Bank, capital and investments at the beginning of the 21st century


September 23, 2004 -- The International Bank conference under such name will be held in the capital of Belarus, Minsk from 6th till 8th December. Its initiators and co-organizers are: Association of Belarusian banks, Minsk Capital Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers, FE "Deloitte and Touche", CES «Center 21st Century». Idea of holding such a conference has already been approved by the leading local banks, several foreign banks and finance companies, national bank associations, as well as the World Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Finance Corporation, JV System Business Management.

Organizers aim at giving the conference the practical nature, provide its participants with new ideas, experience and information manuals, participation in the professional discussions and business meetings in bank surrounding, acquaintance with the possibilities and prospects of banking system of Belarus and proposals of foreign colleagues, discussion of actual problems of investment and inter-bank cooperation.
It is planned to publish catalogue, as well as thesis of reports and speeches.

The program of the conference provides for two plenary sessions, as well as "round tables", work of the investment forum and presentation of investment projects, discussions among specialists, visiting Belarusian banks, enterprises and organizations in Minsk.

The conference officially opens on the 6th of December 2004 and begins its work with the discussion of the prospects of international cooperation in the CIS banking sphere in the context of the European Union enlargement and other new realities of the world economy and politics. Then its participants will continue discussion at "round tables". The first "round table" will be dedicated to the role of foreign capital and non-banking finance instruments in the growth of client business value. During the session of the second "round table" we shall consider the strategy of bank development in new conditions, namely the problems of mergence and engrossment, cost management of commercial banks. Participants of the third "round table" will analyze necessary conditions for the successful cooperation of banks ad enterprises.

The discussion moderators at "round tables" will be representatives of well-known companies and bank associations.

The international "Investment Forum" will present national and regional cooperative and investment projects, perspective investment proposals by regions, territories, free economic zones, enterprises and firms as well as information manuals on the legal base and legislative database of investment cooperation, ways and techniques of its stimulation and optimization.

It is planned to place informational stands of the Forum participants; the speeches will be made by the representatives of branch ministries and departments' of the Republic of Belarus, free economic zones administrations, banks and enterprises, presentation of investment projects and subject discussion.

The conference will end with the plenary session on the topic: "Globalization and consolidation of the economy, their influence on the economic development and banking system".

An intensive preparation for the conference has begun and its Committee is waiting from specialists (professionals, bankers, manufactures, financial managers, researchers) not only interesting reports and speeches, but also new ideas, proposals on preparation and holding the conference, help in its organization.
